This workshop will focus on the concept of microaggressions, defined as “the everyday verbal, nonverbal and environmental slights, snubs or insults, whether intentional or unintentional which communicate hostile, derogatory or negative messages to target persons based solely upon their marginalized group membership.” Come join us for a discussion of the issue and examine its potential impact on faculty-student interactions, as well as discuss suggestions for responding to microaggressions in the classroom.
