Exploring the Impact of Microaggressions
Event box
Presenter: André McKenzie, Vice Provost for Academic Support Services and Faculty Development
This workshop will focus on the concept of microaggressions, defined as “the everyday verbal, nonverbal and environmental slights, snubs or insults, whether intentional or unintentional which communicate hostile, derogatory or negative messages to target persons based solely upon their marginalized group membership.”
Come join us for a discussion of the issue and an examination of its potential impact on faculty-student interactions. We will also explore suggestions for responding to microaggressions in the classroom.
