USD 2017: Jamaica Passionist Monastery (Jamaica, Queens)

NATURE & PURPOSE OF SERVICE SITE:

The Jamaica Passionist Monastery began as a house of studies, and remained so until 1981. Currently, itinerant preachers, hospital chaplains, a university professor, and several other ministers live at the monastery. The ministry of the Passionists there has impacted the lives of the people of Queens in countless ways. Our Lady of Fatima Prayer Group has been meeting for over 50 years. The monastery is also home to an active Confraternity of the Passion and a Padre Pio prayer group. Recently, an internet Confraternity has been launched.

USD volunteers will assist with various projects around the monastery, including yard work & general cleanup.  Please speak with your site contact regarding your service project prior to University Service Day.
