NATURE & PURPOSE OF SERVICE SITE: 

Since 1975, Catholic Charities Progress of Peoples (CCPOP) Development Corporation, the affordable housing developer of Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens, has served as a catalyst for growth in many neighborhoods.  CCPOP transforms vacant land and buildings into affordable housing units and, as a result, transform the lives of individuals and families.

In the past 37 years, CCPOP has completed more than 3,600 units of housing, including 2,186 units of housing for low-income older adults, 1,068 units of family housing and 433 units of supportive housing for formerly homeless and individuals suffering mental illness or behavioral circumstances. 

For USD, volunteers will assist with a gardening project at the center.

TIME (round-trip transportation provided from the Queens campus):

USD volunteers are invited to join us for the USD Opening Ceremonies at 9:00am on the SJU Queens Campus Great Lawn. Immediately following Opening Ceremonies (approximately 9:30am), registered USD volunteers should meet at St. Thomas More Church. The service project should conclude by 2:30pm - volunteers should expect to return to campus by 3:00pm.
