The Academic Center for Equity and Inclusion would like to invite the St. John’s University community to participate in the 15th Annual ReelAbilities Film Festival. The Festival, organized by the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan, is “the largest festival in the U.S. dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation of the lives, stories, and artistic expressions of people with disabilities.” ReelAbilities is renowned for its wide-ranging international film selection, riveting performances, and post-screening conversations. It is presented annually in dozens of venues across the New York metropolitan area. The ACEI Inclusive Climate workgroup has selected a few short films from this year’s Festival offerings to create an engaging program that will be relevant to different members of the St. John’s community. There will be a post-screening discussion that will allow us to come together in a conversation to explore and enhance our collective appreciation of diversity and individual differences, and to reflect on how we can support inclusion of people with disabilities in our communities. The event advances the University’s mission and commitment to an inclusive and equitable University community.
The event will be held in person.
