ACEI Book Club Session 3
Event box
Please join us virtually or in person for the Spring 2024 installment of the ACEI Book Club! We will be reading Teaching to Transgress by bell hooks, as we continue discussing the negative impacts of interpersonal and systemic oppressive practices.
"In Teaching to Transgress, bell hooks--writer, teacher, and insurgent black intellectual--writes about a new kind of education, education as the practice of freedom. Teaching students to "transgress" against racial, sexual, and class boundaries in order to achieve the gift of freedom is, for hooks, the teacher's most important goal." Routledge University Press
Please see the electronic copy of the book, Teaching to Transgress. Special thanks to our University Librarian, Dean of Libraries & Professor, Dr. Caroline Fuchs, for supporting this year’s Book Club!
The discussion will focus on Chapters 13 & 14.
