Part one of a two-part academic assessment series, this session delves into 'Effective Assessment Practices', providing an introductory-level understanding of assessment in higher education. Topics covered will include history and trends in assessment, its purpose, the components of a programmatic assessment plan, data collection and the importance of transparency. We will also explore the expansion of assessment culture and preventing resistance. Active participation is encouraged, and there will be opportunities for discussion with the speakers and peers. Join us for an interactive session aimed at better understanding this essential area in our field, with a focus on continuous quality improvement. This first session will lay important groundwork for the second session’s focus on implementation.
