Presenter: Peter K. Fay, Ph.D., Catherine of Siena Teaching Scholar, Villanova University

Dr. Fay received his Ph.D. in theological ethics from Boston College. His interdisciplinary research draws from the natural and social sciences, personal narratives, classical and contemporary interpretations of the good life, Catholic social teaching, Scripture, and Thomistic virtue ethics to explore the possibility and contours of the flourishing and virtuous agency of people with schizophrenia in the United States. His research has been supported with grants from the Boston College Center for Human Rights and International Justice and Ernest Fortin Memorial Foundation. Prior to joining Villanova University’s Ethics Department as a Catherine of Siena Teaching Scholar, he taught Christian theology and ethics in the Theology Department of Boston College and in the Department of Religious Studies at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts and United States History and World History at Digital Harbor High School in Baltimore, Maryland through Teach For America. His teaching in Catholic and Christian theology and ethics has been recognized by the Boston College Center for Teaching Excellence’s Donald J. White Teaching Excellence Award and the Boston College Woods College of Advancing Studies Dean of Summer Session Teaching Fellowship. His work as a scholar, teacher, and colleague is committed to mining and developing the contributions that Catholic and Christian theology and ethics can make to the academy, Church, and world.
