USD 2018: New Life Food and Clothing Pantry (Elmhurst, Queens)

NATURE & PURPOSE OF SERVICE SITE:    

The New Life Food and Clothing Pantry serves the Elmhurst community’s low-income populace with nutritious non-perishable food, occasional fresh produce, personal care items and gently-used clothing free of charge.  New Life serves approximately 150-160 clients per shift and is a very diverse community, helping people from all backgrounds.

USD volunteers will help distribute food and clothing and create a sense of community for Elmhurst and Queens residents. Assistance may be needed with food bag preparation, clothing set up, assisting clients, and clean up and breakdown. Additionally, USD volunteers may assist elderly clients with their carts when entering and exiting the New Life building.

 

LOCATION (round-trip transportation provided from the Queens Campus):

New Life Fellowship Church

82-10 Queens Blvd, Elmhurst, NY 11373

 

TIME:

7:30am - 12:30pm

USD volunteers will meet at St. Thomas More Church on the Queens Campus at 7:30am, and will return to campus by 12:30pm. If you are traveling on your own, please arrive at New Life no later than 8:00am.
