Fall Online Teaching Essentials! (10/21 - 11/17)
Event box
Online Teaching Essentials (OTE) is a four-week, asynchronous online course that addresses the design and teaching of online and hybrid courses. You will work in a hands-on environment designed to provide an authentic online student experience while developing your teaching skills.
OTE will begin Monday October 21st and run through Sunday, November 17th. You can expect to spend between 8-10 hours per week in the course, so please plan accordingly. We strongly encourage you to complete the Online Teaching Essentials course at least one semester in advance of your first hybrid or online course offering. You can find out more on our website.
Successful completion of OTE is the primary method for certification to teach any of the University’s fully online or hybrid courses.
Registration does not guarantee enrollment in the course. In the case of an overwhelming number of faculty registrations, we will give priority to those with an upcoming scheduled online teaching assignment. We thank you in advance for your understanding.
If you have any questions about the course, please contact Laura Andrews, andrewsl@stjohns.edu, 718-990-3926

Understanding Blackboard is vital to your success as an online or hybrid instructor! We recommend everyone complete a new Blackboard Foundations course (running from September 23rd-October 7th) unless you have an expert knowledge of Blackboard. For more information and to register please contact estudio@stjohns.edu.
