On behalf of faculty signatories of the “Faculty Anti-Racism Letter to AAUP and FA Leadership” (June 2020), the Academic Center for Equity and Inclusion (ACEI) invites ALL faculty to a digital town hall to discuss faculty equity and anti-racism priorities. The town hall will be on Monday, September 7, 2020 from 1:50-3:15pm, and hosted via Zoom. This town hall is intended to be inclusive of adjunct, short-term contract, pre-tenure, and tenured faculty, regardless of rank or programmatic affiliations.

At the town hall, faculty will have opportunities to assess and discuss the pledge by the board members of the SJU chapter of the AAUP, written in response to the faculty anti-racism letter. Faculty will also discuss the absence of a public response from the Faculty Association (FA) to the faculty anti-racism letter. The aim of the town hall is to share information and collaboratively brainstorm possible next steps for ensuring faculty equity and anti-racism priorities are championed by the two labor unions that negotiate key terms of faculty labor, compensation, and institutional policy.

To allow maximum time for faculty questions and conversation, faculty town hall participants are asked to read the AAUP-SJU pledge in advance of town hall.
