Online Teaching Essentials (OTE) is a four-week, asynchronous, online course, for St. John's employees that addresses the design and teaching of online and hybrid courses. You will work in a hands-on environment designed to provide an authentic online student experience while developing your online and hybrid teaching skills. While there are no set meeting times, you are expected to submit assignments on time every week. Falling behind may prevent you from earning a certificate.

OTE will begin Monday, March 14, and run through Sunday, April 10, 2022. You can expect to spend between 8-10 hours per week in the course, so please plan accordingly. You can find out more on the OLS website.

Successful completion of OTE is the primary method for certification to teach any of the University’s fully online or hybrid courses.

Registration does not guarantee enrollment in the course. In the case of an overwhelming number of faculty registrations, we will give priority to those with an upcoming scheduled online teaching assignment. However, due to the current demands, we have greatly expanded the number of seats available. We thank you in advance for your understanding.

You will need your x number to register. X #s can be found on the paystub in UIS under the employee tab.

If you have any questions about the course, please contact Ian August, augusti@stjohns.edu
