The ACEI would like to invite St. John’s University students, faculty, and staff to a community screening of the 2022 documentary film Who We Are, On Thursday, October 6th at 5 pm in D’Angelo, 128. This is a film version of former ACLU Deputy Legal Director Jeffery Robinson’s groundbreaking talk on the history of U.S. anti-Black racism. The documentary is interwoven with archival footage, interviews, and Robinson's story, and it explores the enduring legacy of white supremacy and our collective responsibility to overcome it.

We encourage faculty to invite their students and make the film a catalyst for discussion of how we can embrace the University’s mission to respect the rights and dignity of each person and advance the goal identified by the Provost’s office, “to eliminate racism wherever it exists within our institution.”

On Tuesday, October 11 during common hour, 1:50-3:15 pm the ACEI will hold a follow-up discussion in St. Augustine Hall 404, and on WebEx with one of the film’s producers, Jayashri Wyatt, Chief of the Education Outreach Section in the Department of Global Communications at the United Nations. Refreshments will be served.
